Do discount supermarkets offer YS deals?

Options
I live practically next door to an A1d1. However I never see reduced items. Does anyone know if they offer them?

There ae often reduced items in our store. In Aldi's case they are long red stickers and don't stand out as much as yellow stickers! I have had both fresh and bakery products, some at 30% off and some at 50% OFF.

Both Aldi and Lidl do discounts.

At Lidl it is a 30% off sticker and at our local Lidl the items are usually available just after it opens.
The discounts are on perishable foods...bread, fresh meat/fish, cheese etc.
Lidl also have a discount shelf in the cooler at the end of the dairy area in my local Lidl.

Aldi seem to do a similar thing but 50% off. I don’t know whether it is always discount time in the morning as I haven’t visited before closing but I bought two free range chickens last week about half an hour after opening but these might have been from the evening before.

Both shops leave the discounted goods on their normal shelves...except for the bits on the afore mentioned Lidl shelf.

Aldi is well worth a visit on Christmas Eve when the Christmas perishables are discounted....sorry to mention the ‘c’ word!

    HTH!

They both do. They used to both offer 30% off, but 4ldi have now switched to 50% off in a lot of cases.

What they have will all depend on overstocks, so it's hit and miss what's there - and bread's about the only thing most likely to often occur as it has a short shelf life and if it's hot they'll sell all their bread rolls for BBQs, if it's wet they'll not have sold them all...

The pile tends to be small though as both shops tend to operate on the basis of selling out what they have delivered, which is why if you shop late in the day you'll often find empty shelves.

I find L1dl have a spot they put a lot of those YS items ... but you can also find them in situ on the shelves. 4ldi seem to leave them on the shelves and just sticker them.

As above, plus very rarely my Lidl gives stuff away, normally placed on the "packing shelf" Very hit & miss, mostly seems to be cut flowers, but I did once get lemon curd. Presumable short shelf life and space limitations dictate what is given away

Again my local L's has a bargain bucket pile, things like coffee, jam, the kind of stuff that was on promotion but never sold, from what I see it the sort of stuff you would only buy on offer anyway

I don't go to Lidl, it's in a part of the town which I don't frequent. Aldi is closer for me, I very rarely see any discounted food. I asked a staff member once if they had any yellow stickers, he pointed me to a shelf where there was Christmas goodies they wanted to get rid of.

A year or so ago I saw a staff member going through all the chiller cabinets picking out everything that was about to go out of date and loading it onto a trolley. I asked if it was going to be reduced, she said that's not for sale. I don't know what happened to it.

I sometimes find reduced in Poundstretcher, but it's mainly dry goods, packets and tins, and often something I would not eat anyway.

I have found eggs and cheese reduced to half price in £1 Land.

Aldi's fresh food reductions are there as soon as the shop opens, and they don't usually last long.

So if you live close by try being there when the shop opens.

Of course it is hit and miss depending on what has that sell by date and what has been sold, I suspect not many burgers today.:j

I am at Aldi for 8am and buy heaps of meat at 50 per cent off,as soon as I get home I vacuum pack it and it's in the freezer within the hour.
    Saves a lot of money.

I remember a couple of times I was in Lidl and got offered free stuff at the till. Use by was that day's date but they said items could be frozen. I said don't you want them yourselves and the SA said we get loads too. I went home with bacon chicken portions and beef. All cooked that night and then I froze them.

That happened to me once in Lidl. They put my stuff through at the checkout and then the cashier offered me a gammon joint for free!

I'd say that generally the stock turnover is high and fast at both stores so there's not too much to reduce but it does happen.

This week I got 50% off potatoes, parsnips and beansprouts in Aldi. Unlike Lidl, they don't have a 'reduced' food section so I found them by chance as they were on my list anyway.

Aldi frequently reduce the goods in the special purchase/jumble sale section in the centre of the store and as another poster said seasonal stuff after the event.
