Maybe a normal sized one would have been quickerpistonvalve wrote: »I paid a large cheque in to Lloyds and have been told it will be 4 days to clear

Ah, missed out the word value!! Genuinely confused - I thought cheque clearance times had been reduced by the banks to midnight next day.0

I've paid a cheque in recently on the Halifax app. Cheque was for £500
Did it on Sunday and it was showing as available the next day.
Must say I was impressed.
I don't think Nationwide has quick clearing yet, I paid some cheques in at the branch on Monday and they will clear tomorrow0 -

You thought wrong then. Reduced clearing times have been introduced and are being trialled, but I would expect the vast majority of cheques to still need to go through the usual 2-4-6 clearing just now.0 -
Does anyone know of any other UK banks currently allowing the deposit of cheques by scanning them in or taking a photo via an app ?0

Bank of Scotland do, but it's still £500 max cheque with a maximum daily deposit of £1000.Does anyone know of any other UK banks currently allowing the deposit of cheques by scanning them in or taking a photo via an app ?
If you scan your cheque early enough on a working day, is there any chance the funds will be available that evening?0 -
Doesn't this cause problems if the cheque was to bounce though? I always thought that's why cheques took so long to clear? To avoid them bouncing and customers drawings against money they technically didn't have and going possibly overdrawn?0

Works really well.
I live in Scotland but dont have any Lloyds branches up here so this is great for me!0
