So…I did a bad thing. I need to confess!
Me and some friends are going on a theatre trip.
You probably know it's always difficult organising group outings so I ended up volunteering to book the tickets just to get it done. £20 a ticket - so £100 down.
I didn’t have the spare cash to hand so I've booked it on a credit card. Shame!!
2 friends have paid me back already so I've pinged £40 straight across.
Hoping the others pay up soon too but I hate chasing people for money. I should have waited until someone else offered to book. Still, I've got a long time until it actually needs to be paid but I'm cross with myself for using credit and I hate knowing it's sitting there.
Must remember this feeling for next time I'm tempted to use the dreaded card!!0 -

We're all guilty of this! The main thing is you're not using your credit card to spend beyond your means. You know you'll get the money back and you paid it straight off your card. I'd chase your friends before the interest is due to be applied! you don't want to be paying any interest!Debt Free Diary..."Start of a new chapter"

So I've just had my 30th birthday and I've been overwhelmed by the generosity of my family and friends. I'm a very lucky girl and won't have to buy myself anything for a while!!
My lovely OH is taking me to Disneyland Paris tomorrow for the week to celebrate. I am extremely excited. He has paid out for the whole trip including a meal plan so we won't have to spend much when we're there - except if we fancy a few drinks.
Hoping to go into Paris one day to the Eiffel Tower so I've been looking at using public transport. Looks like the most MSE way of getting about is by train. I get a bit nervy when I'm abroad but I think I'll have to be brave and try.
I saved some money last week so I'll be using that to treat myself to breakfast at the airport tomorrow.
See you later money savers,

Back to reality with a bump! Paris was absolutely wonderful. I didn't have to keep an eye on my money while we were away either as my OH has put the spending money onto a separate card so we could just relax and enjoy ourselves.
We had a meal plan as well so we made sure to eat in the freebie restaurants whenever we could. Also found a cheap and cheerful McDs.
Now I'm home and just waiting for payday so I can make my next payments to credit cards and see the balances lowering again. I've been given some money for my birthday and part of me is tempted to use it for paying off debt... but I know that's not why it was gifted to me. I'm sure I'll think of something good to put it towards0 -
Sounds like you are sticking to the plan. The debt reduction is going well and from the sounds of it so is the wedding savings pot. Along with budgeting comes saving and the discipline not to spend. If you get that nailed at a relatively young age it will pay dividends re your finances in later life as you start to tackle things like bigger homes, children maybe or additional payments to pensions for early retirement plans.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. For the first time ever, I am heading into November with £150 already put away for Christmas.
I can start buying gifts when I see good bargains and not worrying about leaving myself short for the month. Really pleased with myself! I'll pop in another £50 from my December pay to go towards food and drink (although my Dad is spending Christmas Day with us and is always VERY generous with contribution to the food shop). He is the biggest kid around and can't bear to miss out on anything - even though there's not enough time to actually eat it all!
I managed to stay within my spending money for October and hoping to do the same in November. I've transferred it across to my Monz0 so I'm all on track. There's a little bit of buffer leftover as well for anything unexpected. Lots of nice things to look forward to this month - time with friends and family.
Trying to make the most of staying home on these darker evenings, playing board games and watching movies.
Any ideas of freebie, indoor things to do would be much appreciated!
I love the run up to Christmas!0 -
Unexpected spends yesterday - emergency dentist appointment for wisdom tooth pain PLUS prescription charge for antibiotics. I had to do it though, the pain was getting ridiculous. Feeling very poorly and sorry for myself today so hoping the tablets get me on the mend.
But no alcohol for a week so chances are the spending will balance out!!0 -
Where has November gone? I can't believe we are so close to the end of the month already.
My OH got all of the Christmas decorations out of the shed ready for 1st December (I do love Christmas).
I have been a bit spendy this month. I did an accidental £50 shopping trip for running clothes, work shoes and a few other bits. Including lunch out. That was money I hadn't budgeted to spend. Then this weekend we went out for a roast - another unexpected £40. It all adds up so quickly.
It's so hard to maintain the discipline over a long period of time. I keep slipping up which sets me back, but I'm still on track to pay back the credit card by March 2019 pay day. Only five more payments to go!!0 -
I keep buying lunches at work and it has got to stop!
I am going to the supermarket tonight for rolls, soups, salad items, fruit & yogurts so I can get back into the habit of making my lunches at home.
I might have to join a challenge to keep me on track. I was doing REALLY well and it's all fallen apart in the last couple of weeks. Feeling motivated!0
