Applying for a Mortgage with 2 jobs

Hi
I am just in the process of selling our home and currently looking for a larger home.
I currently have 2 permanent jobs and wanted to know how that works when applying for a new mortgage?
My understanding is you can borrow x4 of your annual income. But will the same rules apply as I work 2 jobs?
At present only I am hoping to take the mortgage out, but if I add my partner to the mortgage how would that work?
And one last thing... are brokers likely to offer better deals than your own bank?
Thanks in advance

Brokers are likely to get this placed.
Many lenders will only count half of the second income.I am a Mortgage Broker
