Joint Loans with Eligibility Checker

Hi Everyone, hoping for some advice.

Myself and the other half are looking to obtain a joint loan for our wedding next year. I know that this site has an eligibility checker but this seems to be for personal sole loans, and does not have an option for applying as a couple.

Are there any eligibility checkers that could show our options when applying together?

We are trying to obtain quotes without leaving a (visible) search on our reports,

Thank you

Keep going, you will get there!

No. But as long as neither one of you is too far out of sync with the other, you can make an educated guess as to where to apply based on your individual results and some common sense.

When you apply, ensure that the term of the loan doesn't extend beyond the term of the marriage, as that causes all sorts of problems, from some of the posts we get on here...

Maybe 2 separate loans would be a better idea - you wont be able to get offers/quotes without leaving a search on your credit file.

Good advice! Looks like I'm stuck with her so should be alright with the loan term.

Thanks for responses. We have an offer from Nationwide as we have our joint Current account with them, which is fairly decent in terms of APR. Will have a think before applying elsewhere.

A loan for a wedding day is a terrible idea. You start your married life with a debt over your heads for X number of years curtailing what you can do like holidays, decorating etc which can lead to arguments and resentment. If you could afford the loan payments, you could easily afford to have saved up to pay for it by now. Weddings can be done for a few hundred quid in a nice place with a registry office doing the formal bits

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
