Set Down? Nursing home fees

Looking for information please re nursing home fees. Someone mentioned 'Set down'- where no payment is asked for if the patient dies within 2 weeks?
My father (receiving palliative care) was in hospital for 2 months approx. The hospital wanted the bed and so he went into a nursing home (still on a syringe driver receiving palliative care). He died within 2 weeks.
It has been 4 months and we still haven't got a bill. There is always a reason for the delay. Apparently he got lost in the system when he went from hospital to the home. We are trying to wind up his estate and wondered if anyone can give us any information re the 'set down' as we had'nt heard of this before.
Sorry for being long winded. I've tried to keep it short.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation.

Not totally sure, but if a patient is referred to a hospice by a hospital for palliative care this is usually free of charge, and I would think it would be the same to a nursing home x0

If I remember correctly, an aunt on my wife's side of the family was moved from hospital to a nursing home as she couldn't live at home on her own while recovering from a fall and she had no family living here to look after her. The initial period at the nursing home was for 2 weeks after which the family had to start payingNorn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0
