Car finance
Options
Hi everyone
Basically I have applied for car finance with VWFS but got declined (I am not too surprised but..)
I have a CCJ from July 2017 - although Paid in FULL is still showing as Active. It has only been reported to Equifax and Callcredit.
VWFS used Experian to check while making a decision, and I can see that my CCJ is not reported to Experian. My credit history is actually a lot better on Experian than the other 2.
Could they still have checked Equifax & Callcredit - although my report only shows a search through Experian?
What are my option really ? I know I can file a dispute to get the CCJ closed, but I also read that the process will negatively mark on my report too? Will it be worth it for VWFS - in terms of, if I apply again, and say they declined me because of the CCJ first time around, are they likely to look at this differently since it will be "Closed"/"paid in full?"
Many thanks

The CCJ will stay on for 6 years. On what basis will you dispute it? Did you pay within 30 days of judgement?0

If they have searched your other files, you will see it on those files.
Having a CCJ removed won't leave a negative mark on your file.
It's the opposite, as CCJs are generally considered quite bad, apart from by Experian, who seem to quite like them.0 -
Time will heal CCJ history - if the information is correct in the first place.
You could keep the current car and save what ever the monthly repayment was going to be for the new one for another 6-12 months and re-apply - that would allow to borrow less.0 -

Keep the car you've currently got. You cannot get a CCJ removed even if it is paid off in full, the exceptions to that being if you paid it within 30 days of the CCJ being awarded which long since passed or there was a procedural discrepancy. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. They really should have got their finances in order before attempting to get even more.0 -
I understand that I cannot get the CCJ removed, however I just thought that changing it from Active to Paid would mean some lenders would look at this differently.0

My finances are now in order. I cannot VT the car I have now (although yes I have passed the 50% mark now) which means I would have no car then
However, due to stupid mistakes when young, I have to wait to build my credit report and report as it doesn't happen overnight.0 -
Isn't the VWFS rejection likely to due to your previous interaction with them:

You might be on their blacklist.0 -

Not really, the fact it got that far tells a lender all they need to know.
As time goes on it will have less of an impact but after one year you are pushing it.0 -

Good point, although, I don't see how it ended so badly for them last time. None of the reg paperwork was even started then0
