Health cover insurance

I recently completed on a new property, of which I got a mortgage for from Halifax. I applied for the mortgage through a mortgage advisor and in the process of the application I felt compelled to include health cover from aviva.
I just discovered my company already takes out health cover for me through MetLife. I was wondering if anyone knows much about aviva’s cancellation policy for income protection health insurance.
I will also ring aviva to find out.

Felt compelled?
You already have company cover?
Did the Advisor not check? You may be over insured.
Speak to the Advisor.I am a Mortgage Broker

Speak to the Advisor.
Yes, felt compelled in the sense that, it sounded as if it was part of the mortgage condition and that I wouldn’t get the mortgage unless I took out the cover.
Yes he didn’t check. I don’t recall him checking. I also didn’t know at that time that work already has a policy for me. Perhaps he might have checked.
Could being over insured work against me?0 -

I checked my policy documents last night and fortunately Im still in the cooling off period.
I just have a question. Howmuch is cancelling this place policy likely to annoy the mortgage broker?
I just want to be sensitive in how I cancel it.0 -
How were you paying the broker?
If it was through commission on additional products, speak to him first, so that you don't end up with an additional bill.0 -

Thank you.
I think it was through commission on additional products.0 -
If so, let him know it's not suitable, so he can either recommend an alternative product, or agree a fee to pay for his services.0

Thanks a lot. I’ve emailed him.0 -
Update:
The mortgage advisor responded and he said I need to do is to contact Aviva and cancel it. He echoed what amnblog said, about me being over insured.
However, in my panic earlier in the day I phoned the mortgage company headoffice to try and find out where I stand on this issue and they said that they will ask an insurance advisor to call me tomorrow to discuss product alternative products. I think they might try and sell me another insurance policy. I need to tell them I dont need one.0
