PV smart plug

Hello,
I've just seen Solax advertising a smart plug that would work with my PV inverter. It is an appealing idea - that it would only switch on when there is sufficient sunshine to power an appliance, but I'm not sure how practical it is in reality.
Can most appliances cope with keep getting switched on and off? I'm thinking our tumble dryer is the most obvious candidate, and I'm fairly sure our current one would go into Pause and not restart.
What do you think?

I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.

Broke a Dyson fan using something very similar, it, the fan, couldn't handle the constant switching of the power. Something that should have been obvious with hindsight I guess.0
