Whatttt a Fiat 500 isn’t too small for two adults and a baby?! I’ve got a Peugeot 107 and a very tall husband, 8 year old and 2 year old. Could you sell the other one for now whilst you need the money and then get a bigger car in 2020?

Take a sling instead of the pram whilst going out in the car.

Sorry for focusing on the car but you don’t have any money budgeted for clothes, life insurance, all of the other outgoings are very low at present so can’t really shave much else off.

Otherwise, When do you go back to work, will your income improve? Is it worth speaking to the debt companies to reduce payments for a little while if it’s going to be a long time and your not managing.

Is your chap!!!8217;s work van paid for by his firm? Are you paying for insurance, tax etc. for the Fiat?

As another poster stated there doesn!!!8217;t seem to be much room in your SOA (your mortgage is a third of your take home pay), and it!!!8217;s potentially missing things, hence the focus on the car(s).

I would be snapping hands off for an almost free car in your situation. If it was me I!!!8217;d consider selling the Astra and paying off the CCs as long as the use of the work van is reasonably secure.
  • Thank you for all of your responses; they are appreciated!

Enthusiasticsaver - I didn’t realise that was even an option on some pcp’s. I will check the paperwork this week and see if this is something we can do. A spending diary will start once we’ve been paid so it’s a fresh month to see where things are going and maybe update SOA if things are found.

Sncjw - yes that buildings includes contents I just put them both under one.

Clouds88 - it is not that the fiat is too small for the pram but that the car seat hangs over the back seat and I didn’t think that was safe? I also struggle to get the seat in over the front seats with it being a 3 door. I do have a sling to use though. I go back to work February 2019 where my wage will go back up I was just wanting to pay as much off debt as possible from now till then really rather than reduce my payments to them.

Thank you everyone once again; definitely food for thought there.

  • Hi buythedip.

Yes the works van is all done by the company and we pay tax insurance etc for the fiat. Going to look at potentially handing it back early as long as no penalties.

  • If the car is on PCP, you can explore voluntary termination. - The finance company may not be very forthcoming on this option so would be good if you knew what type of finance you have so we can advise you what your options may be.

    Hi,

Looking at your SOA, your mobile phone cost is on the high side. Also, on your current income, you should be able to claim tax credits or universal credit (what you apply for will depend on where you live)
This would help boost your income while on maternity leave.
  • Thank you again for all your input - in July I am doing a spend diary to hopefully then have a more accurate SOA to post.

Middle class utopia - I have checked the PCP and it states that I can end the agreement without penalty as long as a certain amount has already been made which it has so going to move forward with that this week.

Mollycat13 - every on,ins calculator for tax credits states I am not eligible ... am I best to ring them?
