Help! - I don't understand this message

Help please!!

I sold some of my sons baby Bootees earlier in the month - they were bought & then paid for via paypal. Positive feedback has been left by the buyer, but now I have had this message from ebay, saying they have removed my listing (but it finished on 11th Oct):-

We have removed these listings and will credit all fees to your account because it has come to our attention that the items were bought without the account owner's authorisation. We are now restoring the account to its owner.

Please be assured that there is no negative mark on your account because of this. We only removed your listing so that we could credit all of your Insertion and Final Value Fees and prevent any further problems arising such as Unpaid Item disputes or negative feedback.

Note: It may take up to ten days for all the Insertion and Final Value Fee credits to be shown on your account status page.

You are free to list the item again using the Sell Your Item form or other listing tools. Unfortunately the listing won't appear as an Unsold item in My eBay and we can't relist it for you. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience.

Thank you for your understanding in this difficult matter. If you have any questions or require assistance, you can contact us from any eBay Help page.

Anyone know what this means? The money is still in my paypal account BTW & I've had no further contact from the buyer.

thanks in advance

  • Did you get this email in your personal email box? or your Ebay email box? if it isnt in your ebay box, it is most likely a phishing email/spoof email. Don't click on any links in the email,. and report it to ebay, or just delete it :-)

It's definitely genuine, there's an alert in my ebay messages & the item has been removed when I try to click the item link from the feedback given

    thanks

i read on similar to this yesterday. it means that the person that won the bid was using a card without the account holder permission-i.e. stolen etc.

    HTH

If i remember it means that you can just sell the item gain and there will not be an history of your last 'sale'

Thanks - It looks like all the items bought by this person during October have been removed - how strange that they've left positive feedback if they've been fraudulent! Can't re-sell either though, as they have the item - it was nearly 3 weeks ago!

I'm hoping the money isn't taken back out of my paypal, though it's only a couple of quid so I'm not going to lose sleep over it

It's great that these messages always come about week after the item has been dispatched, but without being a doom merchant, a paypal dispute tends to follow soon after - I've had about 6 or 7 of these, and each occasion, bar one, a paypal dispute or reversal has been opened and taken from me.

They have all been low value items though, and it's a risk I'm willing to take not sending tracked. With tracking information i probably would have a chance of fighting it, but stil unlikely if it's a credit card reversal.
