Hi everyone
Any advice appreciated. So 3 months ago my financial adviser applied for a aip with 10% deposit from Halifax. It was rejected so after checking our credit file it showed my partner had a ccj from august 2014 for 1100 which we knew nothing about as he moved out of that address in march 2014. We paid this immediatly and was told we would have to wait 6-12 months before we would qualify for a mortgage. His credit is very poor (3 point away from being poor) on experian and mine is 4/5 on noddle however I don't earn enough to get a mortgage alone.
My question is would offering 15/20% deposit help speed things up atall or is there anything else we could do to help?

Find a new broker.
There are 2 lenders who would consider you at 90% LTV - circa 4-4.5%
At 15% there are a handful of lenders who would consider you at rates of 2.5-3%.
Although that is based purely on what you have said.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Thankyou so much for your reply. I am feeling alot more confident about there being options now thankyou.
His ccj is showing as satisfied now for 3 months and we are looking to borrow 40k less than the affordability check will allow us. We have no other debts atall.0 -
