Tesco: Do offers in store match the ones online?

Random low-value question...

1.25l bottles of diet Coke are priced at £1.31 in my local Tesco, but their website has them at £1 (for a period beginning today).

Does this mean that if I buy one in store today it will go through at £1 but it just hasn't been marked as such on the shelves yet because they haven't got round to it? Or that it will be £1 in store imminently and so maybe I should go back tomorrow? Or neither, and it's an online only offer?

I don't know if I even want one, but it just got me wondering how it worked.

Prices differ online, instore and across branches so no guarantee that it will go down to £1 in your local store.

Only way to know for sure is to take through the till in your local store or place an online order.

When I log in, its £1 but not on special offer, its just the standard price for me. No mention of it being £1 from today?

Oh, now that is just too weird! I swear I saw it... it said from 27 June and I was like oh, that's today, so maybe... and that's what made me post. But it's not there "now" (I say that in full knowledge that the chances are it never was). I must've dreamt it, or wishful thinking.

    Thanks anyway!

I had a conversation a couple of weeks ago with a phone CS person. She said that (unless an Express) the price should be the same online as instore unless the price had a banner saying online only. I was ringing because my supermarket, where I compare the prices before going shopping, had large coke at 2 for £3. In store there was no shelf pricing to say that & they went through the till at full price.

She rang the duty manager to tell him to put the price right & next time I went in it was correct. I thought it may have been my supermarket that had in wrong but she said those prices are the same as the Tesco online.

I would have thought that the store pricing would have been done by head office & not in the individual stores but apparently not.

I've had two experiences at a Tesco Superstore where the store was not showing / charging multi-save prices for diet coke eg £1.66 for a 2 litre bottle or 2 for £3. The website showed the multi-save offer but not in-store. I was charged the full £1.66.

I spoke to the Duty Manager who initially said there couldn't be a mistake but when I insisted they check agreed the multi-save price offer was correct. They said they weren't overcharging as the shelf price was what was charged.

Given this has happened twice I have lost trust in Tesco. I wonder how many people paid full price when they should have benefited from the multi-save offer.

It was the second time it happened to me that made me ring. I usually check prices on my supermarket before I go.

Also last time I was there they had removed the best before date from an item, there was a code on them which appeared to be the day of the year & they seem to be doing stock rotation in the same way as usual ie shoddy. So that means I will have to find somewhere else to get fresh stuff.

I went in this morning and it was marked on the shelf as reduced to £1 (from £1.31) so all's well that ends well. I guess it just needed patience!
