SOA advice

Good morning all
I went BR on the 8th of may and have £12 a month surplus. When completing the BR forms i put my husband income down as requested but he earns less than me and has his own debts to pay off. I recently got an IPA of £170 a month so i spoke to the OR and she said i shouldnt worry as they would relook at my i&e so they have sent me a IPOQ to fill in, she also said i should put down all my husbands debts too so they can take in to account what he pays out.

What im confused about on the form is do i put all what i pay out only or what my husband pays out as well? i no it says YOUR Expenses.

I pay the rent, shopping and council tax hubby pays everything else plus we have our own expenses like mobile phone, prescription fees eye tests/glasses etc. I really need to get this right as its stessing me out loads.

Hope someone understands what ive wrote, many thanks

Hi Jennym80 and welcome to MSE,

As this is being looked at again, the best thing to do is check with your OR exactly what they would like done differently this time. If you did a sole budget last time and felt the IPA was incorrect, they may want to look at a joint budget now to get a more accurate picture of what happens.

Normally, in a joint budget, you will be expected to split the household expenses proportionately, so if your husband earns less he will be expected to put less towards the bills, food, travel etc. However, his debts will not be included as an essential living expense. It is very unlikely the OR will accept you paying more to the household so his debts can stay up to date, resulting in a lower/ non existent IPA.

You could post a SOA on here if you want further guidance, but ultimately it is up to the OR. Good luck,

    Laura

    Thank you for the reply.

Im really wishing i hadnt done the bankruptcy now as im going to be worse off than when i was paying my debts.

Ive sent everything over to the OR now so its just a case of wait and see what happens.
