Did a workout at lunchtime today (some cardio, resistance training and weights) and am back for an afternoon of work but thanks to my workout and my bowl of homemade soup for lunch I'm nice and warm (after spending the morning with the heating on and a blanket over my legs).

Heating is now off and I'm going to endeavour to move about more this afternoon while working. Good way to avoid mammoth heating bills! Must do this more often since I work from home quite a lot.

Done a bit of playing around with my spreadsheets this morning to make sure everything was in line, and I'm glad I did because there was a flaw in one of my formulas and I spotted something that didn't add up. Glad I noticed it or I'd be mega confused about what was happening with my finances!
I struggle with not putting the heating on cos I am home thursday-sunday lol and I am a cold bod, going to try and wear slippers and dressing gowns though instead

That happened to me last month with my spreadsheet I was very confused :rotfl: I am pleased you have found it xx

There is a groupon deal for laser tag near quay for 40 for ten kids. Thats what I got my boy and burger king after :) if that helps xx
Thanks Monz, i remember you talking about it. I took a look and the offer is still on. I did tell him that he could choose what he wanted to do for his birthday (within reason) so will suggest laser tag but if he doesn't go for it then it'll be trampolining.

Haha only sometimes. And it helps that my friend is off work on certain days so we can plan to go together. Having a plan to meet someone avoids me just deciding I'm too busy and need to work through. I was at the gym at 6am this morning... at the time I could've cried but I felt great afterwards. Even managed to squeeze in a coffee in peace before the kids got up!

Glad I'm not the only one with wonky spreadsheets :)

It's hard not to put the heating on at home. I think if I was pottering about, doing housework and things, it wouldn't be so bad, but with only my fingers moving for most of the day, it's not enough to keep me warm. It's worse in the morning of course, and i try to turn it off in the afternoon.

Not a lot to report today! Kids have the dentist after school then i'll make an early dinner before my eldest goes off to a club and the rest of us go to visit a friend who had a baby last month. Present was bought last month so no costs there.

Spent £1 this morning pumping my tyres up again (did it earlier in the week but two of my tyres hadn't inflated, despite the machine saying it had). This time it worked :)

Cleaner is off for a fortnight on holiday so we're saving £18 on her one missed week (she comes every fortnight). Does mean i need to find time over the weekend to clean but I can rope the kids in where possible and get it done.

Managed to get another couple of presents for Christmas today that were on special offer, so those have been updated on my spreadsheet.

Getting there with work, but still so busy and lots in the pipeline, so knowing what I still have to do plus what's coming up is making me want to bury my head in the sand a bit!

Wow, it's been almost three weeks since I last posted! It's been a busy few days...

It's been an expensive month - we were away last week for a few days with the kids which was planned and mostly budgeted for but still expensive. We had a fantastic time and it was great to hang out with the kids without the loom of work stuff or housework or a million responsibilities.

Pay day is in 5 days so just muddling through to get to the end of the month. I've got £8 in my spending account and £25 in my purse so that will just need to do us until then :)

All my debts have been paid this month so i'm going to do an end of month round up next.

    Hope everyone is well!

    Balances and paid amounts
    Loan: £7,896.15 / £15,792.30 (£7,896.15 paid off - 50% paid)
    CC1: £4,554.97 / £4,804.97 (started from scratch in July 18) £250 or 5.7% paid off
    CC2: £4,131.14 / £5,031.14 (£900 paid off - 18% paid)

    Total: £16,582.26 / £25,619.44 (£9,046.15 paid off, 35% paid)

    Good things:
    • 35% of total debt paid off!
    • I'm into the £16ks total debt :D
    • Loan is now into the £7ks and is 50% paid!!!!! :j:j:j:j:j:j
    • My husband has an extra job to do in November so that should bring in a bit of extra money for savings/ Christmas.

    Not so good things
    • It's been an expensive month with half term and our trip away
    • My Christmas fund isn't paid in until next month so quite a bit of my spends have gone towards gifts that I've seen on offer etc. Annoying.

    Savings pots
I think its fair to say that some pots are doing better than others...

Christmas fund: £600 / £600 (THIS WILL BE PAID OUT IN AROUND 3 WEEKS)
Credit union savings: £100 (I withdrew some for Christmas spending, and some to pay for our half term trip away so back down to £100)
General savings: £0 (this will go up to £200 at the start of the month, but our car service is due in November so this will likely be wiped out again...
Gifts/ clothes fund: £0 - Empty as both the kids needed trousers and new jackets.

    Days until pay day: 5

  • Good to hear you had some nice family time. I was wondering where you were!

Loan in the 7s is amazing as is 35% of total debt gone.

    Well done :)

Thanks DIA and Monz - feel like I'm getting somewhere, although a long way to go still.

Need to get my head back in the game for the coming month, although that's going to be difficult because I'm away with work two weeks in a row (one UK trip and one trans-atlantic trip) so although all my expenses will be covered, it's easy to just pick something up for the kids and especially in the US, do some Christmas shopping! I'll try to be sensible.

Today has been a nightmare - traffic this morning due to an accident, then a dental appointment (need to get a wisdom tooth out), then half of Glasgow city centre is shut off to film a movie so i was diverted for miles, then got to my work car park and realised there's a massive event on today so the carpark is stowed so it'll take an age to get out later... think i need a small glass of wine tonight :)

At least it's almost the end of the week!

I've booked up my Christmas holidays from work and I'll have 15 full days off :) I seriously can't wait! I've taken most of my holiday in week-long bursts this year, so i feel like I haven't had a proper break, so i'm really looking forward to this one.

Had to spend £2.50 on car parking this morning then will have another £4 parking to pay when I leave work. I also spent £4.75 on buying soup for both my colleague and me for lunch (she's paid for lunch for me a couple of times so i'd never dream of asking her to reimburse me). Not the cheapest of days, but it's not too bad.

Also, i received an estimate for my dental work...£134 so that'll eat up almost all of the savings from next month. At least we have money there though.

Must find my positive pants and put them on soon.
