Wi-fi reading?

Options
I am new to solar panels, I submitted my second reading last week.

I did have a few problems to start with, in relation to my smart meter for my duel fuel energy supplier, Scottish Power.
Scottish Power gave me a reading of the ammount generated by my solar panels, I see you guys on here about readings for a single day.

How are Scottish Power reading my meter and are you guys obsessed, or do you have smart wi-fi meters for your solar panels?

I am with Good Energy for my FIT.

I also have my FIT paid by Good Energy.

As far as I am aware your generation meter which determines how much your FIT will be is not smart. You have to read it and submit your readings each quarter. I have also had my generation meter read twice by a company called Lowi beck. I was notified of this by Good Energy that it was happening.

Someone with more knowledge might be able to tell you how Scottish Power can tell you how much you have produced. Somewhere you will have a Generation meter and you should be the one that reads it for your FIT. Mine is just by my Inverter. I could also go into the garage and read the screen on my inverter, but that is too much like hard work!

I am a bit obsessive with my production as I am virtually retired (Well I stopped working 2.5 years ago) Wife says 53 is too young to retire! Well she can carry on working till she is 68! As I can use most of my production during the day I am usually looking at my production on my SolarEdge monitoring portal on my computer or my phone. This communicates by wifi. The information can be seen by me SolarEdge and also by the company who installed the system.

(They ring me up and ask how is my system performing and eachtime I say look at you system and you can see. They keep trying to sell me a PV Optimiser!)

I know others have got devices that can tell them how they produce, divert, use and import.

I'm almost certain that the reading Scottish Power gives you is for the amount of power exported and not the power generated. It is the power generated and measured by your generation meter that should be submitted to your FIT payer, Good Energy.

The figures most people are writing about on the "Talking 'bout my generation" thread are the figures from the generation meter.

Are you sure your meter is in the loft as it has to be read by an official every two years?.
My inverter is in the loft but my generation meter is in my garage.
I also gave a geo display which gives me current and historical generation data.
