^ Sry bypassing the spam filter but it's not spam/advertisng
I owe 4k from a debt about a year old, and I received this letter from a solictor today, wanted to know how serious this is and whether a court summoning or CCJ is imminent?
I haven't reached out to the debt collector (Oriel Collections) yet and I'm talking with the free debt charity orgs about how to deal with this. I have about 2k saved and a part-time job with low income so I probably couldn't afford the monthly repayments they'd ask for in the long run. I'm thinking about asking for a settlement (unlikely...), and failing that I think I have to get a DMP to tide me over until I can get a full-time job, not really sure what the best way to go is here. Just looking for advice on the whole situation really, my first debt

Hi,
What you have received is a letter before claim, so do not ignore it, you have 30 days in which to respond to the creditor, so you will need a strategy here to deal with this matter.
You do not have to pay this all in one go, affordable monthly payments can be agreed, basically do a budget and from that work out what you can afford to pay, and offer that, remember to enclose a copy to the creditor (as they have no idea of your income/expenditure etc).
You could offer them a settlement agreement, although they are unlikely to accept half, if you can offer between 60/75%, that may be workable, depends on your circumstances.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
