Just a quick question regarding dmp and the six year credit thrashing

Howdy!
I took out a dmp Feb 2012. I made full and final and partial settlements last summer. I assumed and understand that my credit score etc is shot to pieces for 6 years . Fair enough .
What I'm trying to find out , is if my credit is affected for six years from last summer till 2024 or from Feb 2012 and that the six years have passed on February this year .
I don't want anymore credit now , and please god never again .
The reason I ask , is that when I set up a direct debit a few weeks ago to have boiler cover ( Reactive Ltd) , I received a call yesterday telling me that my payments haven't been authorised . They said it was down to a credit check. They told me that they check in different ways when setting up direct debits from customers and that when I gave them my bank details again I was ok to proceeed with the direct debit of £17.49 a month for boiler cover.
I'm just a bit confused .
Can anyone explain ?
Thanks

The marks on your credit file stay for 6 years from when the entry was defaulted or settled, whichever is sooner.0

Hi,
Firstly, ignore your credit score, its mainly a randomly generated number, the CRA `s use as a marketing tool, it means nothing in the real world.
Its credit history that is important, a DMP as such, is not recorded on your credit file, but the debts associated with your plan will be, so if your accounts defaulted, that default will stay for 6 years, from the date of default, after which it will vanish for ever.
If some accounts didn't default, they may of been marked AP (arrangement to pay), these will stay for 6 years after you have made the final payment to them.
It all depends how your file is marked as to how quickly it will recover.

I took out a dental plan last year, after spending a fortune on much needed treatment . I have a direct debit for the gym . Both of these were fine and I wasn't declined . Hopefully , I won't have the embarrassment again. Providing I stay clean from now on0
