sorry if this is the wrong place to post.
my brother is getting married end of next month and they have asked for money towards their honeymoon as a gift. they are having a big wedding 100+ guests. i was going to give them £50 as a present but my budget just wont stretch to that amount next month! we are on a low income with children and currently £7000 in debt. any thoughts on how much would be acceptable to give? im his sister so feel like i should give more but they are both in a much better financial position than we are!
any thoughts?

Surely it's about the thought, hopefully he understands your situation and would be grateful for whatever you could afford0

You're so right! its the thought that counts not the amount. at the end of the day i doubt they will remember who gave them what! Fed up of this 'outdo each other' society!0 -
if he is anything like me i would rather know that my nieces and nephews are fed clothed and housed than having any gift. hope it goes wellAn answer isn't spam just because you don't like it......0

Instead of money could you do something practical - if you or your other half are good at decorating maybe offer to decorate a room? Or perhaps cook them a really nice meal (using ingredients bought from Aldi/Lidl) - they don't need to know where you got them.Debt free and Keeping on Track0

Hi, perhaps you could make them a photo book, using an online app, as a surprise. You could get baby/childhood photos of each of them from relatives (scan them) and Facebook etc
You would be able to write text boxes e.g, about each of them e.g. "Jane was born in Some Town on 19 Jan 1985". You could include fun photos, relatives and events e.g. gets first pet/car/job
Then a bit about their lives together since meeting "Jane met John at ......" and photos/events since they met. The last page could be something that refers to their wedding date "Jane and John married on 10 July 2018 at All Saints Church, Some Place, wishing you every happiness In your future together Roxy and Family"
I've used the Boots photo app a couple of times (I think it says powered by snap fish) and made lovely photo books with nice colour schemes or themes they provide and writing using text boxes. I'm sure there are lots of other good sites too. Make sure you get an offer code as they seem to be always available. You can probably make a hardback book from around £20 with an offer code depending on how many pages you want and perhaps free delivery for store collection if you do go with boots.
This project might take quite a lot of your time but you might quite enjoy it.

Just because they ask for money doesn!!!8217;t mean that!!!8217;s what you have to get. I think it!!!8217;s a bit cheeky to be so brazen in asking to be honest!
If you know where they are going on honeymoon how about a little travel package with some local touches? You can shop around then, use vouchers, get deals etc. and get more bang for your buck then with cash.0 -
Do they know you are in debt and money doesn't come as easy, then they will understand.
I was going to suggest similar things to Mrs Porridge, I know they asked for money, but could you babysit while they get ready for their honeymoon, help with prep etc..0 -
