London and Country problem

I`ve had a real problem with the MSE`s reccomended London and Country Mortgages Ltd. I asked them to arrange a mortgage where I could pay off a substantial chunk of what I owe without incurring early repayment charges. They found me what sounded like a good deal but didn`t tell me that the transfer to the new mortgage had happened - as a result I`ve paid nearly £400 in interest that I needn`t have done. The Halifax tell me that its the L and C`s responsibility because they organised the transfer to the new deal and not the Halifax themselves - the fact that I used a financial advice company means they - the Halifax - don`t have to tell me when the new mortgage started. The L and C said this was "news to them" and admit that while they told me that the transfer to the new mortgage had been been requested they didn`t let me know when it started and that I could pay off the money I wanted too.
I feel very badly treated.
Has anyone else had a problem with L and C or been caught in the same trap?

Not sure I quite understand the situation... did you change from one Halifax product to another from Halifax? If you have overpaid interest you should be able to claim this back... I remortgaged from Halifax to C&G through L&C and Halifax took one too many payments out of my account when the transfer happened... just phoned them up and got it credited straight back to my account with no probs...
PS not sure it is really worth a poll!?!0 -
Not sure what the poll is about?
Not sure what your complaint is about either. Can you re-word it.
You say you asked them to arrange a mortgage but it sounds like you already had a mortgage. It also sounds like it wasnt a remortgage but a product switch.
A product switch, if that is what it is, doesnt change the mortgage. It just changes the terms. The only dates in question are the day of changeover from one deal to another and the first date of the new amount by direct debit. The documentation for both of those dates comes from the lender.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
