Advice re prize

Got a call at 5pm Mon from a local site saying I'd won theatre tickets for that night but she was really sorry as she thought she'd sent the email (I think the week before) but it turned out it hadn't gone so it was really late notice (I'd not be able to get there in time as too late to get off early, so had to say no).

(Not sure how true as expect she'd have called to say I'd won or at least chased up if she'd not heard from me - I think she forgot to draw it or tell me I'd won.)

Anyway, she said she'd try her best to get another day, although they usually only give them away for the opening night. I sort of said oh what a shame and hopefully I'd go another day and the usual stuff, but I've been a bit wound up since as I've not heard anything else and don't think for one second she'll come back to me. I did text the number yesterday saying if anything came up for another show for a certain a week in July (as I'm on hols) - matinee even - I'd be happy to go. Still heard nothing.

Do you think I should drive her a bit mad asking or just chalk this up to one of those things? Bit gutted and peed off really as it wasn't my fault and part of me thinks they should just be paying for tickets for another night or sending me to the next opening night of something without giving them away in a competition as usual. Feel mean as it's a local site so think I'll just ignore it, but it really is niggling! She might have kept them for herself as far as I know lol! Hmm.

This is why I seldom enter for tickets or travel. But you are entitled to an alternative prize of equal or greater value. I'd send them an ASA email, at least it may prompt them to provide an alternative.

'Sadly, I have still not received my alternative prize. Neither have I received a response to my recent message. To avoid further embarrassment I have now referred this to the Advertising Standards Authority for their advice and it will need to be sorted out directly with them.'

Should cause them a few palpitations even if it achieves little. Last time this happened to me it inspired the sponsor to despatch a 'goody bag.'
