Hi, my neighbour has just rebuilt the boundary wall to our properties and asked us if they can go ahead with repairing a cracked foul drain which they say has been leaking on their property for 20yrs!! Can this even be possible?? Our houses are detached and we live on a hill, our property is above theirs.

Very likely, especially as you are uphill to them and drains tend to go down hill where possibleGardener’s pest is chef’s escargot0

Could it have been causing surface water over a period of 20yrs??0

In a word, yes. But if it is on your property, make sure they do not do any work until you agree it is to be carried out.
