Thank you for al your lovely comments! I just can’t seem to stay away! Have still got this website linked on my phone and I was just on Instagram and flicking through Dave Ramsey’s page and it got me thinking about hammering it down again. Maybe I’ll just update every once in a while.
Might as well do an update while I’m here.
- we’ve paid off £2015 of the credit card debt this year so far! With £100 min payment still to come.
- I’ve transferred £1000 from my saints interest paying card onto my 0% card which will reduce the interest a bit.
- first loan payment has come out for the car
- I’ve had to rob the holiday account for £100 to pay for my passport renewal but they are all sent off and done now.
I’ve managed a whole half term at school with a smile on my face. I don’t there is scope for a permanent job there after Christmas so I’m going to keep my eyes peeled for a new role for September and see what come up. Not good to rest on my laurels as I would be out of a job this time next year and that’s not a good time in teaching to look for something new.
We are going to look at sofas today so we can manifest a new one after our holiday hopefully at some point towards the end of this year.
It’s going to be a challenge to get through this 5 week month but one week is down already and we are trying so hard to be careful with our money.

If you are working at a school where you have smiled for a half term, that is a blessing indeed. Good luck with the search for September.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Hi, glad to see you on here.
That's a lot of money that you have managed to pay off. I am glad that you're smiling too. Schools can be a very dismal place at the minute.

Morning all
Maybe brief weekly updates of positives are ok?
- The older car passed its MOT!! It's coming up for 12 years old and has done over 130,000 miles so this is awesome news.
- Because of this, I have reduced the overdraft by £50 with the money I anticipated spends on the car to come from. It feels nice to start reducing that one. I have considered stopping savings just to get that paid off as its costing £13 a month which is not loads but it all adds up. I think I am going to see how I feel each month.
- passports have arrived!!! Holiday is getting closer.
- I get paid a week on Tuesday and have budgeted £450 towards the holiday pot and then when the husband gets paid at the end of the month, another £400 will go in.
Hoping and praying for a cheap rest of this long month with lots of good food budgeting and just small trips in the car to save on petrol.

Morning all
Payday today! £700 into the pot for the holiday bringing the total to £1900. Next month we will be halfway there!
Reduced my credit card down by £100 today too.
I have also managed to get another 0% credit card. Currently £2200 of one of them I am paying interest on and it's about £35 a month. Another £2060 will turn to interest owing in August as well. They will only let me have £3300 credit limit though so we shall have to have a bit of a juggle when the dust settles.
Husband and I have decided to have a spending diet for 3 months bringing us up to the point that the holiday will be paid off. Currently, we budget about £1000 for food, fuel, clothes and spending money for a month but I'm going to challenge us to reduce that. We do need some new clothes but I'm hoping that this will at least make me think of creative ways to reduce our spends in the area without ending up with cheap nasty stuff.
Although the debt is not going as fast as we would like it, look how much money we have sitting in a bank account from 3 paydays! This bodes well for the future.

I totally get where you're coming from - knowing that after the holiday, you'll have £1900 over 3 months available to save/ pay off debt etc. And that's a nice feeling.
Spending diet sounds exciting! What's your plans for that? Just general cutting back or specific things you're avoiding?Sealed Pot Challenge 075
