Hi,
My fianc! and I are hopefully about to embark on buying our first property soon. Our filing is not the most organised and we feel a little clueless - what paperwork/information will we need to provide - payslips I assume - how far back though?
Any tips on feeling more prepared appreciated. We have tried to read up but would appreciate some practical advice.
Thanks

If you read up and still ask such questions i suggest you speak with a mortgage broker.
The documents required vary depending on the circumstances, but boil down to proof of Address, ID, income. No once can give you much more details without specifics on your case.0 -
ID - Passports or driving Licences
Proof of residency - recent utility bill or credit card statement
Income - 3 months wage slips and last P60
Conduct of account - 3 months Bank Statements
Proof of deposit - Bank statement
Get a copy of your credit files from Equifax, Experian, or Call Credit to check there is nothing on there you did not expect.
If you have poor credit get all three credit files and put together six months bank statements.I am a Mortgage Broker

Thanks, we just wanted to confirm as we read different things in different places and wanted to make sure there wouldn't be any odd surprises in what we're asked for.0

Some lenders do vary in what they need so it is not surprising that you are getting different answers.
We normally get the same as AMN except for a P60 unless we are using bonuses/overtime etc.
Also, if you are on tax credits and they are needed, then we would also suggest getting the award letter.
One other point, the bank statements need to have:
Account number,
Sort code,
Your name on there,
Show your wages hitting the account,
general spending/bills etc.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
