quidco etiquette

Can't find the answer to this question on the quidco site.

An annual insurance policy is coming to an end, I would quite like to stay with the same insurer (I had to claim on it earlier in the year and they were really great so I feel some old fashioned loyalty. They've given a renewal price but it would obviously be cheaper to start again and buy a new policy through quidco and earn cashback. Not exactly true old fashioned loyalty, I know, but at least I would be giving THEM my money instead of another insurer so it would make me feel better!
Am I allowed to do that or is would it be considered to be bad quidco etiquette?
And would the insurer count the transaction as genuine and pay cashback?
Anyone know the answer?

  • Quite frankly, I would say !!!!!! the loyalty.

There are major insurance cashback amounts on quidco. Try bargaining with them to get a lower renewal quote.

Loyalty is nice but money is better :D

I wouldn't hold any feelings to those money grabbing, good for nothing........! ;)

Maybe they will pay cashback and maybe they won't. In my past experience I have done trid this only once with my Car insurance. Here goes.....

I was insured with Kw1kf1t insurance and got cashback the previous year. I had a claim on the insurance too (not at fault I might add - in a Lewis Hamilton voice) Come to renew this year - I thought I would take advantage of using Quidco to get cashback using same insurer (same renewal as price quoted online as a new customer). So I attempted to go through the quidco route and take out (new policy) 2 days before renwal date. However, I got an email from them stating that they could not proceed with the insurance because I was already insured with them. Which was a bit dodgy - cause only when I got to work and checked my email the following Monday did I relaise that I had been driving around uninsured!!!:eek: So I rang them and I then proceeded to take out a new quote over the phone (panic buy!) and lost the cashback anyway -!!!!!!!

    Good luck
  • I've done this twice with Lloyds TSB. No problems either time and two lots of lovely cashback.

In fact, when they asked me for proof of my no claims bonus and I told them to check their records as I had been insured with them the previous year, they still requested a copy of their own renewal notice to me!

    Go for it!

Thanks very much for your replies..... sounds like a 50:50 chance of getting the cashback.
At least it doesn't sound like an 'illegal' move as far as qudico ethics are concerned.
    Thanks all.....

Both myself and OH have renewed through Quidco with Lloyds car insurance. Neither tracked and I had to chase them and am still waiting for the 'actual' money from one of them. The quote was £5 dearer through Quidco than the renewal. Dont do it as a renewal but new quote and when lloyds ask for the proof of no claims tell them you were insured with them last year and they just look it up on the computer.

On our house insurance though I opted for a lower cashback to get a much lower quote with AA.

Its no good paying more if you dont get the cashback anyway is it. And Quidco have had some criticism lately for non tracking, non follow ups.

the thing is i havent recieved my cashback and im in the porcess fo going through the earnings enquries at the moment. so it looks as though privelege may also have cottoned on.. ill keep the thread updated

ACII and Chartered so now I can focus on learning to play my beautiful Sax. 🎷
  • I went through Quidco to get the £120 cashback (the quote was only a few pence more expensive) but it didn't track. I've obviously been chasing but this morning I received an email from Greasypalm (used them before finding Quidco) and bizarely they paid it through there? To be fair I did use them last year but I definitely went through Quidco this year. Upshot I get the cashback but only half of what I'd hoped. Life really is like a box of chocolates eh!
