Well, have managed to avoid all shops for a whole week! Unbelievable for me!
My last shop was last Thursday and I still have enough bits and pieces to keep me going for a little while.
I have written a list of things i need - a lot of which aren't food unfortunately but am trying to hold out for a bit longer. I'm doing a massage course this weekend on both Sat and Sun so will only need evening meals and am actually home (I travel a lot with work) all of next week - may try to last out until midweek before shopping if I can (although the temptation is great!)
My month ends on the 27th (going to Canada on the 28th) so just 11 or 12 days to go.
£100 budget for all food, toiletries, cleaning stuff and dog stuff - £48.59 left0 -
week 1 spent £56.74
week 2 spent £92
So doing quite well, at the mo, the thing I've noticed is that I haven't spent on a big shop at Tesco yet have still had a full cupboard...... so does the evil Mr T make me spend what I don't need????0 -

is it me or does anyone else get thrown out when trying to post
OK Rosie, you can come out from behind the sofa now: I'm decent :rotfl:.
As far as Christmas is concerned we are a bit lucky. My DD will probably cook Christmas dinner for us, and my DS1 will invite us over for Boxing Day :j. So in theory I should reduce my Dec Budget a bit. However it has been traditional that the Head of the Family buys the Turkey , so maybe I'll keep it at the same level. Decisions, always decisions!!0 -
Have £44 left to last me until the 27th.Should be ok though.Have been reading this thread avidly and picking up tips along the way.
Hopefully i will come as near to my target as possible.£2 saved for every 1lb lost.:D(starting now)0 -
Just checking in before the weekend since this is traditionally my shopping time so keeping myself on track. Alas I need to do a trip to Sainsburys since they seem to be the only supermarket who do small salad pasta shapes
and anyway I'm huffing with Tesco since I've been saving their vouchers for car hire for our next holiday and sodding avis are withdrawing from the scheme. Will have to investigate the airmiles possibilities I guess.
So anyway I also need bananas, potatos, bread, little oranges and spinach. No doubt DH will be with me so that'll be another £5 on crisps and crap like that which I know now I don't want but will go weak kneed at the thought of once I'm there. Hoping to keep it at less than £15 since there is still one more weekend to go before payday.
Also aiming to keep out of the wine shop. Weak willed on that myself and DH is much worse than me. Wish me luck. I just realised that you guys count wine into the groceries bill  dread to think what it would put our monthly spend up to if we did this!
Hope everyone has a good weekend - don't spend too much!0 -

:j :T   Fab news honey!  :T :j
You don't need to justify the wine to me sweetie. I've never needed a reason to buy a bottle!
If anyone ever asked me to give a reason I'd just channel Billie Piper...
"Because we want to! Because we want to!"
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Hmmm... Hand up who thinks I might have had wine already this afternoon???? :hello: :hello: :hello:

 I'd take the wine over the crisps honeybun - but then the wine would probably make we want the crisps....

I am the loon who started the GC challenge last year in December, 2005 at Christmas I spent about £800 and I wasn't even doing dinner, last year I spent under £400...this year maybe about £300...
Christmas is as expensive as you make it, there are ways and means, I won't be just blowing a fortune as I know it's just a waste..I did myself a deal last year, whatever I saved compared to last year I took as a treat for the sales, well didn't work completely as the MSE in me by then stopped me blowing it all but I did have a nice shopping day.
Oh while I am here, anyone noticed how much their waste has reduced? Since I started this challenge it's got lower and lower, more so after reducing portion sizes even what the dogs get extra has reduced (don't think they are happy about that bit however :rotfl: )One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0
