Hi Bobbykins
Great idea about the stir fry and I already have mushrooms and peppers in the fridge. All the broccoli has gone but I can do without that this time unless I see some speacial offers tomorrow.
hi Gunsandbanjos
i haven't heard of that site but it sounds wonderful - I'm going to check it later as I have all big supermarkets around here.
I know I'm going to make it til the end of the month now. So much motivation and encouragement from this site - it's priceless!
Have to but extra chicken as parents are coming to stay tomorrow but hopefully they will but dinner for Thursday.
Cheers everyone

That supermarket comparison site is fabulous. I like it better than tesco's own site.

Hi Egon, glad that you will be joining us on the GC!
Suggestions for meals
- you might try looking through the meal plan threads for ideas and if you see anything you'd like to try, then ask the poster for the recipe. most are only too pleased to share here's the link to the latest one -

- have you browsed the Old Style Recipe Index? there's enough recipes there to keep you going for a few weeksapparently there are some problems at the moment and the thread is temprorarily 'lost' but work is going on to restore it so should be available again soon. go here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.html?f=33 and look for the 'sticky' thread towards the top of the list.

Hi everyone.
Like to join in with this, always something Ive wanted to try and do and think with spending diary I can do it!
Been trying to add up last months spends, and keep track of this month.
Big shops last month (i was going once a week) has come to £175 for one person! ( I buy in food for two once a week when bf stays - get £10 a month from him a student)
My spends included cleaning stuff and some non food items.
This month Ive spent £58.93 and plan to do asda delivery next week, aiming for £150 a month at moment. Would like £100 in future. Big spend is soft drinks, but trying to cut down.
Fingers crossed I get somewhere!:j Debt-Free-Wannabe! :jDeclutter/Ebay/Savings0 -
been to tescos this morning, mainly to stock up on big stuff:
huge box washing powder, massive box teabags, bulk toilet rolls, squash and a few bits on bogof
plus my riverfords order this week, off to update sig, not doing to bad so far, roughly 125 quid leftNovember NSD's - 70 -
Just popped in quickly to update siggy. Had fortnightly delivery from Mr. T. and it came to under £70, so I quite happy. Using the MySupermarket sit is great as I have saved over £13 for the last two shops by swapping.
Welcome to the Newbies and good luck to everybody.0 -
First of all, thanks to everyone who answered my post, sorry I haven't replied before but had a bit of a prob with my computer, couldn't get online. Am able to get to Derry in about 50 minutes, which has Tesco and Sainsbury, but Asda is in Strabane, which is about an hour, so either shop is fine.
Sorry I only just saw your post, what with the site being so funny this past few days. In your shoes I'd def go to tesco if it's 10mins closer. I've used this one in the past when I've been in Derry for work and it's a good size and seemed to have most stuff.
Maybe too late now anyway0 -
So just to do a roundup since we're at the halfway point of the month (more or less!). I'm coming in at £118 spent and a max of £50 more to spend. Meals are certainly taken care of for the rest of this week without any more shopping and I don't need any dairy stuff, tins or cleaning stuff for a good while hopefully. I'm going to need some fruit and veg and some balsamic vinegar which is expensive - £7 - but at least lasts for ages. I'm trying to talk myself into going to our local market but it's too far to walk carrying a load of f&v and I'm wondering if the sums stack up by the time I use the car. It'll also be a curse to park when I get back. Does anyone else think the savings are worth it?
Welcome again to all the new folk, stick at it!0 -
Haven't been posting much on GC this month but still on track.
Only spent £25.08 this week due to big shop last week. Got some great bargains in Lidl again, 400g of lovely stewing steak on Special at £1.48 per pack - reduced by another 30% I bought 2 packs for large pot of beef & ale casserole.
Luckly for me our local Lidl isn't that busy as it is right next to an Asda and Aldi resulting in lots of meat & fresh stuff being regularly reduced. But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0
