TfL Bus/Tube advice

Options
Hi all,

Recently moved to London and thinking about how best to save on travel here.

I plan on taking the bus as much as possible, but will need to take the tube on occasion each week.

fare capping is £4.50 and £21.20 for daily and weekly for bus, but If I take the tube does that mean I automatically become subject to the £6.80 (daily) £34.10 (weekly) caps for tube travel zone 1-2?

^Thanks, video was a bit confusing, so I'm clear if you take tube routes that avoid zone 1 you can be charged a lower fare?

    Of course.

If you don't travel in zone 1 you have no need to pay for travel in zone 1.

If you use a route where you could go via Zone 1 but there is an alternative then make sure you use any pink validator machines which confirm you have used that route and ensure you are not charged for the more direct route.

The daily cap depends on the highest numbered zone you use. So if you just travel in zone 3, the cap is the same as 1-3. If you travel zones 3 to 4, the cap is the same as 1-4.

And yes, if you travel on the bus all day the cap is £4.50 but go on the tube once and the cap becomes the tube zones cap.
