Tesco have withdrawn their crunchy Almond butter and wouldn't allow my husband to purchase it (although I wouldn't have used it anyway if it's withdrawn in case there is something wrong with it) but they were still available on the shelf which is strange. A message came up on the checkout operator's till. There are also no smooth Almond butters on their shelf so possibly they have also been withdrawn.

Has anyone heard a reason for this as I'm currently using a jar I bought there last week and hoping it's okay?

Look for recalls. It may just effect the batch that just arrived though. Sometimes errors happen and they get put on the shelves even though it shouldn't have. The tills put up the alert to make sure it doesn't get sold to a customer when there is a known fault in the product. It may be aggravating however it is in the customers best interest.

I work tills in a supermarket so I see this from time to time. Again do keep an eye out for recalls. Maybe contact them if you are worried.

Edit : sometimes something is recalled just because it is missing an allergy notice though. Something like 'contains nuts' is missing on the label and so recalled for example even when it should be obvious.

Thanks for this information. I never thought in looking up Recalls. That will be helpful. Yes, a bit annoying to not be able to buy a jar but understandable if there was anything wrong so I'll be patient until we can get another jar.

    Thanks again. :)

I work for Tesco and sometimes it can be a case of a problem with the back-end system; at the moment they!!!8217;ve temporarily withdrawn some Frijj milk shakes as they won!!!8217;t scan properly so it can sometimes be that rather than just incorrect allergen information etc.

If you!!!8217;re unable to find any information about recalls on our website you can always check at customer services.

If ypur concerned about using the you have then either look fpr a recall on the internet or take the jar into store and see if the staff call locate the notice amd tell you if the jar you have is ok.

My friend works for a supermarket. Sometimes with a recall, they put a block on the product, even though just one batch could be affected. This prevents customers buying the affected stock. Then told to remove the product off the shelf. Usually told to put the unaffected stock on sale by the following day
