Take the Train.co.uk

I have used and promoted the site for years as there was no booking fee.
However, went to book a ticket this week and there is now a fee of £5 per booking, which they explain will keep the site going... I can understand fees of £1/1.50 but really, £5!!!

Just noticed this myself, which they have kept very quiet!

I almost just clicked "Confirm my booking" without noticing the £5 fee, in very small text, on the right hand side. So I think they're relying on people not noticing.

My train ticket was only going to be £3.60 so the fee is more than the ticket itself!!

Their website is crap and I only used it because of no fees. Will not be going back now.

When I check for the same fare on the Train line, and on red spotted hanky, the ticket price is coming up as £11.

It's actually cheaper to pay this fee !!!!!!.

And how much is the ticket on the website of any Train Operating Company?

That's what I was wondering, I thought it was always cheapest to go through the train company direct?

Not always; train companies own sites will not inform you if it's cheaper to purchase a combination of tickets for your journey.
