Does anyone collect aluminum cans to sell for scrap and if so how much do you get paid for it?
I did this many years ago and am thinking of starting again as scrap prices are at a high at the moment.

We regularly take 14 ft aluminium garage doors to the scrap metal merchants and they are that heavy we break them down into smaller parts . Generally get about £14 per door. I dread to think how many cans you could make out of it..................... probably thousands. Hope this helpsMatched betting proceeds so far: £505.000

For the amount of time and effort it would take for you take any money out of selling cans it's better to use that time to think of better schemes to make money.!!!0

A friend of mine has been collecting milk bottle tops since the early 1980s! I think the plan is to sell the lump when he retires in about 20 years time , I suppose he might get the price of a pint(of milk)!0

My father in law used to go round town with a shopping trolley collecting, asked local clubs for them and ended up with his greenhouse full of bags. My brother in law then had to take them to the recycling centre (a van had to be hired for this:eek: ). He made about £60 which he was delighted with. My brother in law did not have the heart to tell him it cost more to hire the van.....
I was wondering if the recycling machines in the larger Tesco takes them? if you use them on deals it works out 1p per can.LBM 10 JUNE 07June 07 - £68K May 08 apx £57K MORTGAGE £212KJune Grocery Challenge - Budget £445 Actual £17.40PROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBTS0 -

Charlie, I think this thread is a little out of date!
I'm pretty sure the Tesco's thing has stopped now (I'm sure I read it in another thread somewhere).

Some Tescos do have a recycling area.
It does exist as I have only recently used this facility! Its worth it if you are passing the area anyway and don't mind putting the cans in one.at.a.time.0 -
Yup, my tesco also has a big recycling bank where you zap your clubcard and get 1 point for 2 cans0
