In sickness and in health...

Have just had my rostered two days off work and have spent both of them sick on the sofa. As a result last nights dinner was take away, and tonights will be too. In addition to that, I haven't been able to do all the baking etc that I normally do on my days off, so as a result the coming week will be hard too. Being sick is an expensive business.

So how do you guys keep on the spending straight and narrow when you're out of sorts?

I wish I had the answer to that one - I just had a 'sick' weekend which meant none of my cooking/cleaning/washing/ironing etc got done - it all adds to the pressure for the rest of the week with the result that I've eaten non-stop rubbish for the last 2 days to cheer myself up, so I'll end up fat and depressed and spend more to compensate. Hey-ho! Back to the chocolate.

Hmmm no real answer to that one i am afraid, i usually just want to eat soup when i am ill which i usually have in the cupboard. Unfortunately u just have to put it down to "one of those things" hope u are feeling better soon x
  • No idea. I'm not ill but have had too many 'can't be arsed to cook' days in the past week which meant takeouts.

  • Ha, no idea. I'm really depressed about my work life so eating a bit more rubbish than normal :( Buying a pizza from the local shop is still cheaper than a takeaway! Hope you feel better soon.

I dont think my spending does go up when I am ill tbh. I usually just make something thats quick and simple and entertain myself by watching dvds or foruming on the net :o

Heh, well you guys make me feel ok about not having cooked ;)

Normally for something like this I'd have half a dozen homecooked meals in the freezer.... but I started a new job without a day off from the old, then my hubby had to have some minor surgery, then I got sick on my next set of days off... I've just never caught up with myself.

Today I feel a bit better I just have no voice... wondering if the boss will send me home when I get there :o

  • Hi,

When I have a don't want to cook day, I tell DH what's for tea and he cooks :j

He's OK as long as it is something simple like sausage and mash.

Hubby has been really taking care of me well, but cooking is not his speciality. We could have minute noodles or sandwiches, and we have done somewhat. He's about to heat up dinner though, thus again earning huge brownie points!

This is alongside him now working 2 jobs, and cleaning up after us both...

Ah! I work three days on/three days off, so although I am rarely sick, I do have a lot of spare time.

What I do is rediscover stuff I have already bought! I have so many videogames I bought and never played/completed, and I just play them! Either that or read books I bought but never read, listen to music I have bought but never listened to...

Failing that, find this stuff you've never used, and eBay it!
