  • its nothing to do with glitches or coupons but i could do with some advice if anyones got a minute.
My boyfriend announced today that he wants to split up. We have until 3 sep on a joint tenancy. Our LL may end tenancy early if i ask him. I have just under £5,000 savings but this has to last until at least july when i finish an unpaid student placement and start looking for work.

atm i have no job to go to in july so am not a good tenant for any LL!!

    My outgoings currently are:
    £325 rent
    £40 CTax
    £35 gas/elec
    £11 internet, £6 telly
    around £20/quarter water
    £20/week food
    £30-£35 a week petrol

I have found bedsits for around £300-£400 nearer £450/mth all in. They are a bit closer to placement so i could reduce my petrol by £5-10 a week or liftshare. The problem is getting rid of bills and tenancy here. I need to move to a different part of the city as I anticipate he will be abusive to me, though I cannot prove this as I never told anyone anything and I do not want to tell council.

thanks everyone sorry to drag thread down and i hope you are recovering ok snd, I know there are ppl always LOADS worse off than me so don't want a "woe is me" thing just some practical MSE tips from the best in the business :)

So sorry KCF not a great way to start the new yr my sis has just been thru similar her and bf moved in together at start of December signed 1yr tennancy then he walked out on new yrs eve went back to his parents and sent my sis a text saying it over !!!!! Slimy toad left her with rent she can't afford and won't help she had to get a mate in to share with her til tenancy up (I know technically sub letting which is a no no) but she had no other option.

2 options if you want to stay where you are could you get a friend to move in ? Next option talk to the landlord you never know they may have a heart and be able to discuss options with you

Really hope you can sort it

Sorry kfc for your situation. Presumably if there is a chance bf could be abusive you would want to move - if this is the case do you have a person at college that would know of available accomodation in the area? Also could you put ads up asking for someone to house/flat share? Start scouring the ads in your local papers to see what is available. Ask around friends/colleagues in case someone wants/needs a lodger or flat mate. O

One thing you have a little time to consider options - good luck. Please let us know how you get on.

    KCF,

I would approach your LL about ending tenancy early. How long have you been living there? Is it a new tenancy or have you been renting from same LL for a while?

Regarding bills, are they in joint names or one name only?

If joint, speak to each utility company and explain situation that you will be splitting up so you want your name removed from the bills.

I would ensure you pay your share before you leave and do not give ex BF your forwarding address!

Have a friend who knows about tenancies - just getting some info.

by the way, Hugs to you too, not a very nice situation to be in.

Have one of jeferey's special hugs that i no longer have the link to.

    Morning all

Had cleared my whole day today as waiting for a BIG delivery of furniture for today (not mine btw but I'm only committee member free ) and I'm shocked but they got delivered at half 8 this morning so I don't have to stay in all day now yay !!! Although cant move in my kitchen til it all gets taken away later lol

Went into sain yesterday to get woopsies for tea and came across the massiv 70% toy sale picked up couple bits but may go back for better look as I had ds with me. Also peps reporting towels and bedding mega cheap too so may treat little ones to a new duvet set each (they get so excited by nEw bed stuff bless em).

Major dilemma for me today Bon jovi just released new tour date in July and part of me desperate to go (have seen them live severltimes ) but I know it's going to be abt £250 for me and OH tickets and travel and my mum always gives me grief abt looking after the kids (she believes when you become a mum that's all you are your kids are your reposibilty and that's that ;( ) so prob won't go but it will make me grumpy now for next 6 months lol
