On each of her three days, she was required to take a full hours lunch unpaid, only to come back after lunch for just 40mins!!

I once worked at 3 different FE colleges teaching TEFL and an MFL including evening work, so your example doesn't seem too bad to me - just use it for lesson prep.

But the Op's circumstances, I'd go with S-Sue's advice and draw up a nice graphic of your situation. If you can suggest solutions more acceptable to everybody so much the better.

I happen to be powerpoint genius level - so that's a great idea.

I think at least one day off a fortnight is not unreasonable for a part time worker

Challenge is with all the hours waiting, 0.3 is only half the hours actually spent at school and despite what they may like to imply even full time colleagues dont spend that much
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine

Bloomin 'eck, you sound like John Major in a satirical version! (If you're old enough to remember the reference). ;)

No, what they're asking is completely unacceptable.

Out of interest, do you want to work more hours? What they are proposing is making work in other locations pretty difficult as well as negating any of the benefits of working PT.

In my example posted above I used it to my advantage if I could - "terribly sorry, I can't make that meeting..", but I always showed willing when the event was possible AND worthwhile.
