I wrote the below out and read it back and it sounds like I am having a few digs at you. I do not mean it to come across like that, but I do think it is important to make a few points as it could be the situation without you knowing it - if that makes sense. If it causes offence, I will just apologise in advance.
Who is the driving force behind all this? Is it your daughter and son in law with some help from mum or is it mum?
I am all for parents getting involved, but sometimes parents get a little bit too involved and it almost feels like it is their Mortgage. As you said, they are young they are no doubt excited and stressed and listening to everyone.
The "issue" seems to be changing.
First it was how quickly it went to offer (I am still stumped on how that is a bad thing), then it became they brought the appointment forward and now it seems to be whether they will release the funds prior to the job starting.
Ask the lender and/or solicitor if the applicant needs to have started the job prior to them releasing the funds or not. If that is the case, delay completion until then?
It sounds like you have your mind set on the broker which I think is a good thing as someone experienced can take control but you are doing that with a Mortgage offer in hand. It just makes me think if you had had a hard time getting the Mortgage offer in the first place, you would probably be over the moon that you had it...Easy come, easy go as the saying goes.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Is the issue here that the applicants were not comfortable with the pace/manner in which the Lender's adviser handled things?
Or is it that the applicants have been given the suggestion that they should not be comfortable with the pace/manner in which the Lender's adviser handled things?
The Lender has one range of products and we have to assume that if the new job were discussed, timing or release of funds was also considered. Therefore, if all the ducks were in a row, the Lender got a result swiftly which is a good thing.
If our borrowers wanted a more personal and comprehensive service with a wider range of options, an independent broker would have been the way forward.
Either way, its seems they will be getting their lending.I am a Mortgage Broker
