Help is required please!

Me and my partner are looking at buying our first house, we currently earn 48K a year between us however her wage is larger than mine. She has impeccable credit history, I also have a high score on experian however, i do have an outstanding credit card balance of 1,800 split between two cards.

We are buying a house on the help to buy scheme, our mortgage in principle allowed us to borrow over 200,000 and we only need 102,000. We have already been approved for the loan, is there any reason for us to be declined? Any thoughts or advice are much appreciated. We have recently applied for the mortgage. Fingers crossed!

From what you've said I can't see how you wouldn't be approved for a mortgage.

My husband and I earn less that you and your partner have a credit card debt between us 0% interest till next year car finance of 161 a month and also have 3 dependents and have just been offered a mortgage.

Try not to stress, I know it's hard as I've been stressed upto my eyeballs worrying about getting decline.

You sound like your in a good position to get a mortgage.

  • We have both have cars on finance which amount to 400, but neither of us have anything else outgoing. My partner is not stressing, it is just me. I am just worried, if the halifax come back and say no, our mortgage in principle was scored as high as could be and we only need a small amount relatively. Never having done this process before it is completely new and scaring me!

We got accepted by Halifax and youre in a much better position, relax :)
  • Thank you, still worrying though. I just want to know now hah! Also I have a feeling a condition of the offer will be to pay off the debt, must this be done?

If you accept it as a condition of borrowing, obviously you would want to make sure it happened.

Did you tell the lender that you would be paying off the debts?

We were just asked, and I said I imagine I will have paid it off, we didn't actually say yes or no.
