PPI on a Barclays 'No protection' overdraft

Hello
My first post. Contacted Barclays asking if they had any record of me having had PPI and got a letter back today saying I did have from 2003 to 2009 on an over-draft. I don't remember that far back so have little detail. I filled out their form online and sent it off today, so waiting a response. The thing I'm posting on here about is this. The product I apparently had PPI on was call BBA Overdraft NO PROTECTION. This strikes me as really odd? I called the bank today to see if they could shed light i.e. why would I have PPI on a product that specifically states no protection and the person I spoke to seemed unable/unwilling to go into any detail. Is this them being sneaky and adding it without my knowledge - I have no recollection of it at all so don't even know what I agreed or paid.
Any thoughts from you guys greatly appreciated.
thanks

The account codes usually reflect the product at the point of opening. Such as loan with protection or loan without protection.
So, this could be no protection at point of opening. Is this them being sneaky and adding it without my knowledge - I have no recollection of it at all so don't even know what I agreed or paid.
Not much point them doing that as most people check their bank statements and a payment going through they didnt authorise would lead to them contacting the bank and the staff member getting sacked for fraud.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
