Urgent advice

Options
Any advice appreciated.
Over 13 years ago my house was repossessed & myself & Partner moved into rented property.
Last week we received a letter each from old Mortgage company informing us of debt been handed over to a collection agency (who are infamous on this forum with their methods of intimidating behaviour ).
Someone i know has informed me that as debt is over 12 years old & neither me or partner have had any communication or acknowledgement with mortgage company for over 12 years, this is classed as "Statue Barred" now.
If any one can shed any light this would be appreciated as getting a little worried

Close. Statute barred is the phrase they were fumbling for.

You could send them a statute barred letter and see if they provide evidence to the contrary.
