I made crumble mix a couple of days ago nd due to two oven failures have not yet baked it.
Now have access to a working oven but it smells a bit cheesy now I’ve opened the tub.
It’s only butter and flour and I going to add some sugar before baking.
How can I tell the mix is ok??? X

Presuming you have kept it in the fridge it should be fine.Downshifted

I regularly keep HM crumble mix and pastry mix in the fridge. Keeps as long as the fat you've made it with, which is usually weeks rather than days.0

The report of a cheesy smell raises my suspicions immediately. Crumble does refrigerate (and freeze) well, but the smell indicates dark forces are at play - perhaps the container you used wasn't 100% clean? If in doubt, I would just ditch it.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

What was the fat you used? I sometimes think that has a funny smell.
It really should be ok after a couple of days.0 -
I would just throw it out, it's not worth getting ill over and you wont feel comfortable eating it now thinking there might be something wrong with it0
