Bring your own clear plastic bag to the N.Ireland airports...!!

Options
Make sure your liquids are already in a clear bag when you leave the house. Last time I flew they were handing out bags free, but no, at the International I had to pay £1 for the privilege of buying a resealable bag, because the open top bag I had wasn't up to standard.

Just to save you all £1.

Make sure they are regulation size though. When we flew from East Midlands to Derry we were told our clear bag was too big.
    WHAT!!!!!!!!!! TOO BIG!!!!.

    They let it through anyway

Wanted to have a laugh at that point, decided against a strip search.....:p

Going back at Derry end, told the same thing but he wouldnt let the bag go through, so the guy put it in a free bag... Jobs worth....

    Stupid if you ask me.......
:confused:I have nothing better to do!!!!

We had the same trouble in Belfast twice last month. The bag we had was from a travel agents and had a tiny logo in one corner, clear apart from that but they wouldn't let it go. I also had bought special bags with containers to decant shampoo etc, mine got through but my OH's didn't - same bag. Jobs worth indeed or they must get commission from the bag vending machine
  • It's a wonder of science that a simple plastic bag can render harmless any liquid which could be explosive.

    From The Register: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/10/30/lords_liquid_ban/

Who remembers the deadly liquid bomb airliner plot? Most of you, we're guessing, as there are still a lot of fairly mindless restrictions on taking liquids aboard planes - no matter that the plot was actually rather far-fetched.
But fear not, UK readers, as your unelected representatives are alert to your interests. Yesterday saw the liquid ban debated in the House of Lords, as ordinary legislative nobles grilled government mouthpiece Baron Bassam of Brighton. The good Baron, raised to the peerage from among the common herd after more than a decade's trusty service on Brighton council, didn't seem to have been furnished with a very comprehensive brief. Here are a few of the pearls he offered:

"We continuously monitor the effectiveness of, in particular, the liquid security measures..."
How, one might ask? But hold on:
"The fact that there has not been a serious incident involving liquid explosives indicates, I would have thought, that the measures that we have put in place so far have been very effective."
Ah, that's how. On which basis the measures against asteroid strike, alien invasion and unexplained nationwide floods of deadly boiling custard have also been remarkably effective.

I would say yes. £1 for 3 - when each person is only allowed 1 bag each... blatant rip off!
