Gym membership cancellation

Hi all,
I joined a gym local to my workplace in January. I signed up for a 12 month minimum term. Unfortunately now I'm looking at moving jobs which will mean that I'm going to be nowhere near this gym. Travelling to the gym from my new workplace, and then to my home, would be a 40 mile round trip. I can't afford nor would I want to undertake this journey every day.
Can anybody advise on how I could exit this contract without having to pay the contract off? Do I have grounds for withdrawing from the contract based on the mileage being unaffordable?
Would really appreciate any help!

You'll be liable for the remaining term unless they're feeling exceptionally generous.0 -

ask if you can transfer it to someone elses name, and see if you can sell it on on the local buy and sell sites...0

hi if you give them proof of your new job they may cancel without fees and end it for you0

Some gym contracts do actually allow cancellations in events of moving away or things like accidents (breaking leg etc), check your contract only it can tell you.0

Yep they're not all bad. My gym allows cancellations if you move away for work. Doesn't look like the OP's coming back but it would help if we knew which gym it was.0
