Own a house overseas

Hello, I was wondering if there was anyone here with experience in this kind of project.
I own a property in Ireland (ROI) and am thinking about borrowing against it in order to renovate. The renovation would cost around half the house's value.
I don't have any existing loans or mortgages and no experience so would really appreciate any advice on where to start. I was born in the UK but have Irish citizenship through family. Can I/Do I have to do everything in Ireland? Who should I be talking to?
Sorry if this seems a stupid question!!
