Mortgage rejected 2 days before closing

We did have a mortgage offer. The woman was suppose to do a few more things and send everything out to the solicitor so they could actually recieve the money. She didn't bother doing any of that and didn't tell anyone. It was picked up because my solicitor was trying to request the money. As I said, she simply didn't do what she was suppose to. The new person said that he's had to restart that process but that it normally takes 5 business days. We can only hope him and our solicitor are able to do it quick enough. If they can't, it is the bank that will have to pay any penalties.
I agree, it all sounds and IS ridiculous. But the fault is 100% with that stupid woman.0 -
To clarify, has the mortgage offer expired and you are starting from scratch and it takes 5 days to asses, or is this just a case of 5 business days to release funds and complete? There are massive inconsistencies in what you are saying and half the actual situation is missing from the facts.0

None of the facts are missing. It's clear you'd like there to be another explanation, apparently one in which someone else is at fault, but alas, no. There are multiple stages that need to be completed for funds to be released, which includes filling out finally stages and sending specific paperwork to solicitors for them to fill in and return to the bank and blah blah blah. Why bother replying if you don't even get that? The stupid woman at the bank simply didn't do what she was suppose to, as I've now said three times. There was no missing information apart from what SHE didn't bother doing to finish her job, there were no mistakes on anyone else's part. That woman simply didn't finish doing everything she was suppose to do. Hopefully you've understood now that I've repeated it several times.
To correct her mistake, the man had to re-input a bunch of information (which meant waiting over night for the system to refresh apparently, no doubt you'll want to question that too, I did) so that he'd actually be able to send said papers to solicitor to be filled in and get returned. Absolutely no funds can be transferred until this is done. After said papers have been returned they do the final stage to release the money. This whole process apparently usually takes 5 business days.
So there you have it, hopefully none of you are still confused but if you are, I really don't care. I came here looking for help and advice and all I got was people trying to find any way to place blame on me. Ridiculous. That'll teach me never to use this site again.0 -
Pick your dummy up on the way out.....BUT if there was stuff that solicitor needed to do why weren't they chasing this up.....surely they knew it was missing.
ps must be great to be perfect0 -

one of the first things I did was ensuring a mortgage offer was sorted, the solicitor has no input what so ever in getting your offer, only requesting it and ensuring it is good.
OP why did you not follow this up? In fact I didn't bother getting any solicitor until the mortgage offer was firmly in my hands and my broker gave me the go ahead.
I'm afraid you have to take some of the blame in ensuring the offer was dealt with in a timely manner, your solicitor also has some blame in ensuring no exchange was done before a mortgage offer was final
Hearing what you don't want to hear doesn't mean it's bad advice but we don't all live with rose tinted glasses on and it's always someone else's fault"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

This'll be my final post on here and I will not return, so get it all off your chest, I'll never know.
David, you are fundamentally wrong. There's no other way to put it. There absolutely always are multiple stages. Again, why bother replying if you don't get that? Or perhaps you do get that and just really really wish you could still place the blame on me. Perhaps the idea that someone in an office could !!!! up in such a monumental way and derail a house purchase like this is too scary for you to accept. Who knows, I certainly don't care enough to find out.
None of you have offered anything even close to helpful or constructive (or even true!) yet you'll sit on your high horses dribbling nonsense as if you know it all. Ridiculous.
And yes, Bogof, it's great knowing that I'm in the right and have done absolutely no wrong in this situation. Hopefully you'll feel it too one day.
Bye
The people on this forum are offering their time and advice free of charge based on past experiences / existing circumstances, yet you are being rude/ignorant/childish when people post questions about the specifics so they can understand the situation more?0 -

If you provide misleading information then of course you'll receive incorrect responses.but solicitor just called us to say the mortgage lender has no record of the mortgage application, when we call them they say it has been rejected
Then later we are all told. There is a mortgage offer , however the process to release the funds hasn't been initiated. The new person said that he's had to restart that process but that it normally takes 5 business days.
Rather than rant with assumptions. Take some time to obtain the full facts in future. Then you might receive more meaningful advice.0
