    Well, for those of us not earning over the higher tax rate it will still seem that you are better off earning that £100 than you are NOT earning that £100. Obviously your choice, in most cases!

    And presumably you can also mitigate your tax payments with things like paying into your pension etc so that you a) see less swallowed by the taxman and b) increase your future pension so that you can continue to live in the manner to which you're becoming accustomed.
