£10k debt advise needed pls

Hi all,

Am new here and desperately need help...because of my stupidity I currently owe 5-6k to several financial institutions and 3-4j to friends and relatives. I’m ashamed of this and extremely desperate cuz it’s mostly caused by gambling. At least I finally accepted the fact that I have a problem and will attend my first GA meeting today.

Could anyone please advise would it be a good step to start a DMP with StepChange it and are basically the positives and negatives of going into one?

Many thanks in advance!

  • Stepchange would be a very very good start.

My next course of action would be get as much help as you can with gambling, I hope the GA meeting went well.

Just came back home from first GA meeting (stayed for both newcomers and main sessions). The stories of people who went through this even being in a much much situation than mine did really impact my mentality and my determination to deal with this!

Calling StepChange first thing in the morning!

Update: shared with my sister, she understood and will help out with the debt! Will avoid StepChange at the moment, as situation drastically turned around with her help, but will keep you updated how I!!!8217;m going through the mess I!!!8217;ve put myself into.

One thing is sure: my mindset is much much better now and desperation is finally gone!

    Thanks for the support everyone!

Wishing all of you a great day!
