Saving for a large amount of money can take its time and seem unachieveable, so I thought we should have a support thread for this. Some of us can't get credit and some of us don't want to but we still have important things we need. So this is a every little bit helps thread!

7 years after sorting my financial mess out, I've got £6000 in the bank, despite earning what would be classed as a not too good wage as I've been on agencies and self employed for the last 15 years so no regular income.
It's taken some doing to get there and I've sacrificed a fair bit but it's an amount I wanted sat there so I'd not have to worry about buying anything on credit again.
Ebay has been a good friend and I did £461 of sales this month in a final purge of all the tat I've been hoarding to reach my goal. Bangernomics has also kept my motoring costs down to next to nothing as well.
One of the upsides is that it's turned me into a right scrooge whereas before I used to just spend without thought. My missus actually thinks I've gone a bit OTT as every purchase other than daily needs takes me an age to actually get to the point of physically going and buying it. It took me a week to actually make a final decision to treat myself to a Xbox 360 last year even though by that point I was doing quite well. Still in scrooge mode, I get the games for it off Ebay - usually 6 months after everyone else where the previous leading titles are down to a few quid.
NEXT TARGET: The mortgage. 9 years and £36000 to go.0
