Does it ever end???

I've started my new journey now as a person who watches every penny as opposed to spending it here there and everywhere on things that dont mean a thing !!!
I have set up my DMP with CCCS (absolutly brill people) first payment comes out 1st November £562....I owe £73,000:eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: i will be paying this for next 11 yrs :eek: :eek: my family now know about my debt.my fiance left me,but still phones me see how I am?/( I think he's thinking now about coming back to me) suppose it was initial shock......
My brother came round last night and took me out (treat) we chatted long time gave me £500 just to spend/save do wot I like with it (lovely baby brother he's 46 lol) told me he'd rather have me alive (been lookin ill lately,lost 3 stone with worry ah well found clothes that fit me now-being positive)...told him thanks wow £500 cash in my purse, I've hid it in wardrobe, he said" payback time all those years I gave him pocket money/pressies when he was young....aww.....we talked about my debt, and how I can reduce it.....told him.....couple of months time i will be able to pay off £852 (my hours going up at work) debt down to 7 yrs then.
Anyway I digress, I'm just about coping with all at home but night/day I get phone calls from creditors:( last one last night was 11.25pm from LloydsTsb, this morning 7.25am !!! I keep tellin em I'm in DMP with CCCS,I've wrote dozens of letters to em......still they phone.......does it ever end???

If your family know about the debt change your phone number really its not worth the hassle, I did and companies have to write to me now you can open the letters when you want to and not when they want to.

Your brother is right not worth the hassle you are doing well make life easier ring BT or Cable and ask to change your number its free with BT not sure about cable and priceless!

There are letters you can send and they are supposed to work but I am all for making life very easy! When you change your number go for ex directory!

aww hugs for you. WEll done for sorting things! It takes alot of guts to admit the problem and the worst part is done. I am fairly sure that its considered harassment to phone before/after certain hours and am sure someone will be along soon to confirm...Have Lloyds entered into the DMP? I suggest you ring CCCS & ask if they can intervene on your behalf! Lvely of your bro but are you going to put at least some of the money he gave you toward the DMP or are you just saving it for a rainy day? Big hug for you & sorry you're having a hard tome...

Well done for making so much progress! This website really is fab for all the times you need a pick me up or a hug or some kind words so make sure you come on here if you need any help!!

I dont know too much on DMPs but I do know that you can write to your creditors (I would immagine recorded delivery would be best) saying that you wish all contact to be done in writing and that if they phone you again that it would be harrasment.

Keep a nosey on the freebies boards about cashback sites/daily clicks so that you can have some extra money for treats or some nice free samples/money off coupons to lower your shopping bills.

Hi there!

There is a really good DMP Mutual supporters thread - never far away from the first page of this board. Have a look over there and I am sure you will find template letters to send to these companies about phone harrassment etc. Also, they will be able to give you support as they have been there done that!
