Chiropodists and podiatrists

Need to visit a chiropodist (preferably one that is also a podiatrist) - but chiropodist alone will do.
I gather there are several different qualification levels that about equate to:
- home course (probably only around O level standard)
- proper course
- high level course
or something along those lines anyway, but cant remember the details of what to look for.
So I can see the "letters" a foot person locally has put after their name - but have no idea whether they're "properly" trained or have just done a home course iyswim.
Can anyone explain the relevant levels - so I can assess which people are trained to a reasonable level?
