For dry goods that don't need to be air tight I use old coffee jars and old takeaway boxes. I have some lock and clip too. However as these do break I am replacing them all with square kilner jars of different sizes.
We already had some round kilner like jars for sugar, tea etc. Had those for over 10 years. Only had one kilner jar break and that was a few days ago.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0 -
I got some attractive glass "kilner-type" jars from Wilko - they do small, medium and large, and have a blackboard lid that you can write on - and were quite a bit cheaper than the real thing. They are square (with "rounded corners" iyswim) so sit together nicely.
I also bought some sticky blackboard labels (also from Wilko), that you can put onto re-purposed coffee/jam jars and write on, they look quite stylish, and you can use different sizes - jam jar size is probably enough for poppy/sesame seeds but you'll need something bigger for pasta for example.
I'm also a fan of "lock 'n' lock", as they are airtight. Must confess there are also things that I leave in their packet and seal with a clip-it. Generally a hybrid system with a mix of air-tightness and stylishness (or not!)

I too am a lover of lock'n'lock boxes which I have collected slowly over the years Had a good stash when JL were reducing last year as they were starting to sell a different make of lock'n'lock's so got a good stash at almost half price .I like them as they stack well and even the tiny ones are really usefull for herbs and spices and sometimes you may see them at a boot sale or CS but not often. Dunelm has a few just after Christmas in their sale and I snaffled a few of them. I have some threepeny bit octagonal glas jars which were on sale I think at Sainsburys a few years ago and I keep Bisto powder and pasta in those. Collevting them at maybe one at a time is easier on your purse and they last almost forever0

I'm usually using glass jars or plastic containers so that I can see what is in each container. Found even containers which could store more than 2 kg of groats0

I am having one of those huge walk in pantry cupboards fitted this week. The original pantry is now a downstairs loo. I have read with interest all the tips, so thanks everyone.
I bought the larder for the above but also for storage of hard to store/get to items like my slow cooker and dehydrator. It will be bliss just going to get what I neeed and not have to get on my hands and knees to get to the nether regions of a corner base unit.Wife, mother, gardener, nurse, Big C survivor.
