Which energy supplier?

Hi, I'm looking to change energy supplier but have no idea where to start. I'm currently with British Gas since moving in at Easter, I'm not on their cheapest tariff as I was expecting to change and didn't want to be locked in for 12 months. My partner and I were both living with parents before so don't have previous bills to gauge anything against and since moving in we've had builders using additional electricity and various things going on so even our usage since Easter isn't a true representation of what we will use.
I tried going on the energy club and the two that came out on top were Avro energy and Tonik but when I started looking into their reviews they aren't looking as great as initially thought. It's all such a headache!! Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Mods move to energy bored.
Try uswitch. You will need your postcode.
If you do not have bills, then it is dependent on the type of house, how insulated it is and what heating you have.
If you're looking to compare, use
Elect general use and oven cooking 3,300 kWh per yer
Heating, gas, 12,500 kWh per year.
3 bed, well insulated. Adjust the heating as required!0 -
Or the MSE energy saving club. Apply caution in selecting a new supplier though, there are lots of new kids on the block and feedback is limited. For me, good, no-hassle CS is a high priority so I'm prepared not to pare the so-called savings down to the core for the sake of my sanity.Blackbeard_of_Perranporth wrote: »Mods move to energy bored.

I am with EDF and have been for 15 years very happy with the service and rates

i was with EDF and did the Uswitch comparison.
It came back with Bristol Energy based on our usage and i also got £25 cheque for the u switch.
my bills per quarter have gone from EDF £274, to Bristol Energy £109
Im happy with the change over and service from Bristol energy3-6 Emergency Fund, No96: £1,000 / £2,000 - House Deposit: £11,000 / £11,000 - Holiday Fund: £100 / £1,300 -

We went from BG with employee discount to Bulb, with a £50 referral link from a colleague. They pay any exit fees and give 3 months' notice of potential price rises. Bills gone down over £200 for the year, (expensive part of the country, would still be over £400p.a. without the employee discount). They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.

Do you switch down to their lowest tariff regularly? They are obliged by law to tell you what it is and how much you could save, but in sticking to EDF you waive any exit fees.I am with EDF and have been for 15 years very happy with the service and rates

Speaking personally, the lower my energy bills are, the better.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I'm with Ovo, they have been very good. I like to pay a monthly amount, helps budgeting. Ovo pay interest every month that the account is in credit.0

I am with these people.

The bills have been cheaper than previous suppliers. They ask for meter readings every three months which you send by logging onto their site and submitting them. Each qtr you have to ask for them to send a bill, which they do eventually. I think they only work office hours which off course saves them money but means you have to wait for the bill.0 -
I've just signed up for Tonik- my first foray into using a smaller supplier. Their prices were about £10 more per year than my existing fixed tariff which ends in June.
My DDs were due to rise by about £10 per month, even on the cheapest tariff with Scottish power.
we'll see:Fingers crossed!
I have switched several times in the last few years- with the big 6 admittedly- and there's been no problem: EDF> EON> Scottish Power ..> Tonik.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
